UCU is utterly opposed to the police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. As a trade union, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our friends in the movement and beyond to oppose it.

Colleagues at UCU University of Brighton are on strike this week to defend jobs in IT services - it is a disgrace that management are threatening the livelihoods of people whose work is central to what the university does but who often don't get recognised for the crucial role they play. We stand in solidarity with this battle and urge members to join the solidarity rally on Wednesday. We'll be making a £250 donation to the strike fund as well on behalf of the branch. ... Attention USS members! The USS (Universities Superannuation Scheme) pension scheme is currently conducting a survey on sustainable and ethical investment. At the moment, USS holds major investments in fossil fuels, along with sizeable interests in armaments and tobacco. It has agreed to divest from tobacco at long last, but we need to stand up for divestment from fossil fuels and armaments - and to do that, we need a BIG response to the survey. The survey was sent out in the latest USS members' update, and you can find the link here: crweblab.com/WebProd/cgi-bin/AskiaExt.dll?Action=DoInterview&Survey=TPTKQWRTWRSHSDUT&Intvw=PDBLSU.... Make sure you fill it in, and tell your friends and colleagues too! ... See MoreSee Less
