A Joint Statement on USS from Cambridge UCU, the University of Cambridge, Oxford UCU, and the University of Oxford

On 3 August, Cambridge UCU and Cambridge University, along with Oxford UCU and Oxford University, announced a joint statement, calling for exploration of alternative scheme designs for USS (including an evaluation of conditional indexation). The focus is on the long-term question of the best possible scheme design for members that will break out of the never-ending cycle of increased contributions and deteriorating benefits.  The full text of the statement is below.

It’s important to start these conversations sooner rather than later, and therefore it would be good if additional UCU branches and Universities would now sign on to the statement.  If your local UCU branch committee is potentially interested in signing on, please get in touch with us at admin@ucu.cam.ac.uk.
