Last week, Cambridge UCU passed a motion to support the national union’s call for universities to halt plans for reopening campuses or risk a major public health crisis. The union is calling for all teaching to take place online unless it is absolutely essential for it to take place in person. Since then, we have seen escalating case numbers growing nationally and further localised lock-down measures imposed elsewhere in the country. We have to act now to protect the safety of our community, our students, and ourselves.
